Artists of all ages, who live work or study within the Glen Eira City area, are invited to submit designs for specific traffic signal boxes. Ten boxes will be painted with artwork. This is a great opportunity to get your artwork out into the public space. Designs will be assessed and successful artists provided with paint and safety equipment and paid $400 to paint their approved design on site. Note this is phase two of the Glen Eira Signal Box project. Previous applicants are welcome to re-apply.
- Expression of Interest opens 01 June 2018 9:00am and closes 20 July 2018 at 5:00pm.
- Successful artists will be notified during August 2018.
- Painting dates will be negotiated with each selected artist. Painting periods will be
approximately two weeks and three weekends in duration (weather permitting) within the months of September, October and November 2018.
You can submit one design or multiple designs. Designs will be selected for their vibrancy, community appeal and connection to the location. Full colour designs for each visible side of the box can be submitted using an A3 size template provided within the Expression of Interest document.
Your submission needs to include your design, artwork title, artwork description, your name, email, phone number and your address within Glen Eira City Council area. Designs will be assessed by Glen Eira City Council, VicRoads and Urban Smart Projects. One artwork will be selected for each location.
There are ten artwork opportunities in ten locations in the suburbs of Elsternwick, Bentleigh, Bentleigh East, Carnegie, Caulfield and Ormond. Site addresses and mapped locations are provided within the Expression of Interest document.
