Kempsey Shire Council invites artists and art based collaborative teams to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the creation of two public sculptures to be installed in the roundabouts on the southern (Slim Dusty) and northern (Dunghutti) Pacific Highway interchanges to Kempsey.
Since the completion of the Pacific Highway bypass in 2013, Council has been undertaking major road and streetscape development along the old highway corridor. The Gateway Sculptures are an important component of this process, and will create a distinct identity and sense of place for the Shire. They will be visible on approach for northbound and southbound traffic entering and exiting into Kempsey from the Pacific Highway.
Concepts are sought that reflect the history, landscape and community of the area while showcasing the Macleay River.
Artists can apply to undertake one or both Gateway projects.
Visit www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/eoi to download the full EOI brief. For more information please contact Council’s Community Projects Officer, Olivia Parker on 02 6566 3200.
Deadline for submissions is 4pm Friday 28 April, 2017. Shortlisted applicants will be notified after 22 May.
Expressions of Interest quoting Gateway Sculpture Project are to be lodged via post:
