Would you like $20,000, spectacular accommodation and a year to compose music? Apply for Prelude 2019!
Prelude is a national residency program dedicated to supporting new works from Australian composers.
It offers long term residencies in historic houses in WA, NSW and SA. Creators of folk, world, jazz, new classical/art music, pop, film, hip hop, electronic and rock music are encouraged to apply.
Now in its third year Prelude welcomes a new property to the program, Golden Vale Homestead in the Southern Highlands of NSW. The ever growing network of residencies provides Australian composers at any career stage with the time and space to create new work. “Living in the Peggy Glanville-Hicks House has given me the incredible and unique opportunity to focus completely on creating music,” says 2018 Prelude recipient Rafael Karlen. “It has also provided me with the conditions to consider which creative projects mean most to me and how I can deliver these to a higher level.”
Prelude has been created through a unique collaboration between Bundanon Trust, Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers’ House, National Trust of Western Australia, National Trust of South Australia, National Trust of Australia (NSW), Australian Council of National Trusts, APRA AMCOS, Helpmann Academy, Arts SA, and the Australia Council for the Arts.
You have until Monday 16 July 2018 to apply.
