COUNTRY ARTS SA IS SEEKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR
GRINDELL’S HUT ARTIST IN RESIDENCY
Vulkathunha‐Gammon Ranges National Park, South Australia
1 – 22 OCTOBER 2018
Country Arts SA is inviting artists from all disciplines to apply for a three-week residency at Grindell’s Hut in the Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park (northern Flinders Ranges) in October this year.
The residency program seeks to provide artists with the opportunity to develop their craft and inspire the creation of new work in response to the landscape and the communities in the Northern Flinders and surrounding region. The artist will be encouraged to engage with local Aboriginal community members (Traditional Owners - Adnyamathanha) by delivering an arts workshop or similar skills exchange in the Nepabunna community (95 kms from Grindell’s Hut).
Grindell’s Hut is located in the heart of the Vulkathunha‐Gammon Ranges National Park, a rugged and remote park with deep gorges and chasms, towering mountains, tree-lined creeks and freshwater springs. The original hut, built by station owner John Grindell in the late 1800s, still stands today adjacent to the newer Grindell’s Hut built in the 1950s as a Boundary Rider’s Hut and Outstation. A fully self-contained stone cottage, Grindell’s Hut is only accessible by 4WD (further details can be supplied).
The Grindell’s Hut Artist in Residence program is a partnership between Country Arts SA and The Department for Environment and Water through the Vulkathunha‐Gammon Ranges National Park Co‐ Management Board, and managed by Country Arts SA.
Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Closing date is Friday 29 June 2018 at 5 PM.
