In its ninth year, For Art’s Sake continues to showcase the creative expression of emerging artists with a disability. In March 2017, the disability support organisation behind For Art’s Sake – FRANS – underwent a name change to Participate Australia.
In this context we are opening entries to the Participate Australia Art Prize to emerging and practising artists of all abilities in Sydney aged 18 or older, who work in a range of mediums, including painting, print, edging, sculpture, photography, functional and sculptural ceramics and more.
The theme for this year’s art prizes is ‘participation’.
This year’s prizes:
For Art’s Sake Art Prize and Participate Art Prize
Two prizes of $3,000 each, for the two most impressive artworks by practicing artists, living with or without disability, as awarded by the judging panel.
Collaborate Art Prize
One $3,000 prize for the most outstanding artwork created in collaboration between an emerging artist with disability and a practicing artist, as awarded by the judging panel.
Please note that this category is reserved for participants of Participate Australia and the artists with whom they collaborate.
People’s Choice Award
One $1,000 award for any artwork with the most votes from visitors and guests of the For Art’s Sake exhibition.
