Bankstown 'Urban Activations' - seeking quotations up to $50,000

Bankstown Urban Activations

Canterbury-Bankstown Council is seeking quotations and concepts for 'Urban Activations' in Bankstown CBD.

Urban Activations are short term installations or events that enliven the public realm and are relatively fast, affordable and low risk for a high value outcome. The Activations will enable people to experience the street differently and recognise the potential benefits that streets can offer to the community in terms of activity, aesthetics, and overall city image.

The best urban activations are place-specific, responding to the physical setting as well as the cultural and historical context of the area. They can tell stories, promote conversation and change perspectives. If nothing else, they should add some fun and interest to the experience of being in Bankstown.

Council has a total budget of $50,000 and may commission a single or multiple concepts, therefore Council will consider small projects (under $5,000), medium projects ($5,000 - $20,000) and large projects ($20,000 – $50,000).

Key dates:

  • 5 June - submissions close
  • 15 June - artist(s) commissioned
  • 21 June - inception meeting
  • Mid July - draft detailed design
  • Mid August - approval
  • October - installation/ implementation
