Interlude Gallery

Internship Program Call Out • March-August 2018

Interlude Gallery is a not-for-profit organism, developing constantly with the input and output of our sympathisers, friends, colleagues, collaborators, phantasmagorical and alien forces. In February 2017 we began our rotating volunteer internship program that has been a huge success in deepening our collaborative values and ever-evolving nature.

WE NOW HAVE 2-3 INTERN POSITIONS OPENING, TO START OUR 3-6 MONTH PROGRAM (MINIMUM 150 HRS). DEADLINE FOR THIS CALL OUT: 2ND OF MARCH, MIDNIGHT SYDNEY TIME

We accept all kinds of hard working individuals, experienced or enthusiasts, for the development of our 2018 exhibition program. Interns will engage in day-to-day general assisting and learning of gallery management and activities alongside Interlude co-directors and collaborators. 

Tasks cover a wide range of skills with the intention of exposing individuals to the best possible, all-rounder experience in gallery and exhibition management. We aim at sculpting the program to the interns’ strengths and best suit the needs of the gallery and intern alike. 

SUMMARY OF PROGRAM TASKS:
-basic maintenance of the gallery premises (eg. deinstall process, patching & re-painting walls/cleaning/ sitting space- supervising artworks, encouraging guest participation)
-administration/ logistics (eg. opening nights/ email communication/ sales/ exhibition management/ program management/ archiving)
-assisting curation (eg. understanding discursive & formal elements of each exhibition/ communicating with artists & writers/ assisting install/ project development/ spatial design)
-marketing (eg. managing invites, mailing list, press release/ event management/ social media/ fostering partnerships)
-design (eg.press release, catalogue, exhibition design)
-research (eg. prior exhibition readings, keeping up to date with general art news)



REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants need a current RSA certificate.
Good knowledge and experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premier Pro is a plus.
Engage with the artistic field and willing to grow reciprocally with the organisation
