SITUATE Art in Festivals is excited to launch their nation-wide call on 30th October 2017 out for early career artists to apply for their Arts Lab in October next year.
The program is designed to support outstanding early career artists to develop ideas for new experimental artworks for festival environments including site-related installations, interventions and participatory events that can respond to a variety of festival sites. This is achieved through the facilitation of an interdisciplinary Arts Lab and mentorship, and by working in collaboration with SITUATE Festival partners. Situate works with Early Career Artists in the first 5 years of their full time professional arts practice. The opportunity is open to creative practitioners working experimentally in the visual arts, architecture, fashion, digital media, installation, community arts, live art, performance and other creative pursuits.
The Arts Lab is an intensive two-week program of provocation and mentoring designed to stimulate ideas and extend the artists' knowledge of making public art for the festival environment. The process of being accepted into the Arts Lab and for proceeding through to the commissioning phase is highly competitive. It is guided by an experienced curatorium of experimental artists of National and International significance. Up to 15 early career artists from around Australia will be selected to participate, and a contribution to accommodation, flights costs, per diems and an honorarium will be provided for those accepted into the Arts Lab program.
Expressions of Interest can be submitted via an online form at situate.org.au, open from Monday 30th October 2017, closing Monday 27 November 2017.
