The Level Crossing Removal Authority is commissioning an artwork to be installed in a new public space in Sydenham. The scope for the commission is open. The commission process occurs in two stages. Stage one requires expressions of interest to be submitted to the Authority and is open now, closing March 30.
Up to four successful submissions will be shortlisted for stage two.
The procured artwork will enrich the public domain and will complement the new and existing urban design of the area. The finished work should deliver the following outcomes:
- Encourage use of public space by members of the community;
- Showcase a high level of artistic skill, innovation and aesthetics;
- Reflect the unique cultural history, environment and/or sense of community of Sydenham;
- Increase community understanding of, and engagement with, contemporary art.
