The City of Ballarat is seeking ideas from artists to create new public artwork to feature as part of the Main Road revitalisation project. The artwork will be located on a prominent site in the shopping precinct of Main Road and focus on one of nine historic and contemporary Main Road stories.
The public art project is part of part of a storytelling project that spans the length of the shopping precinct. The artwork will be located on a highly visible site and is intended to be a landmark and draw visitors into the shopping precinct and enhance the heritage values of the area.
The City of Ballarat has worked closely with Traders on development of the Main Road Revitalisation project to deliver new road and pedestrian infrastructure, plantings and a distinct identity for Main Road.
Interested artists will need to have experience in public art practice. For more information on the application process email City of Ballarat Public Art Co-Ordinator Kate Gerritsen at firstname.lastname@example.org Applications close Wednesday 14 March 2018.
