West Projections aims to assist local, national and international artists, support emerging artists and creative students, and broaden ways in which people can interact with public art. The community festival is held in August, when it transforms the streets of Melbourne's inner-west with an immersive series of projections and interactive events.
We invite you to apply to exhibit your work in 2018 - the fifth consecutive year of this festival - responding to the theme of 'non/Fiction', using projection to delve into forms of communication as translation.
non/FICTION defines the translucent parameters and hazy boarders of communication, language and interpretation. In an age of accessible and instant technology, we are all writers, photographers and reporters, disseminating information at an accelerated rate to a global audience. Pop-culture and consumerism endlessly occupy our screens and streets providing blurry realities. How do we filter between fact and fiction? Who benefits and who suffers from this information?
West Projections Festival invites viewers to Contemplate Talk and Engage and to consider the present and future forms of transmission and understanding.
Applications close 27th of April
