Sydney Living Museums has perhaps the most obscure curatorial position in the country – but it is also one with strong public appeal.

Jacqui Newling’s official title is Assistant Curator in Interpretation but around Sydney Living Museums (SLM) she is known as the Colonial Gastronomer. Her job is to use her knowledge of food heritage to​ give visitors a literal taste of history.

Newling holds a Le Cordon Bleu Masters’ degree and specialises in food heritage, providing services to the 12 houses and museums which constitute SLM.
