New director thinks international for regional gallery

Jason Smith comes to the Victorian regional gallery from Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), where he is Curatorial Manager of Australian Art. But he is best known for his work as Director and CEO of Heide Museum of Modern Art from 2008 to 2014, where he persuaded Melbourne audiences to leave the city and embrace the outer-suburban gallery.
