Indigenous stories heard through public art

Public sculptures carry an impact you can’t ignore, and a number of Indigenous artists have found a voice in that public domain.

Last week Queensland artist Judy Watson was named the recipient of a major public art commission to mark the tenth anniversary of Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). It places Indigenous art at the doorstep of the gallery, the first artwork encountered by visitors and a signature to the story of collecting Queensland.
