Gene Sherman knows well the importance of recalibration within a project. In 2008 she shifted the focus of her successful commercial gallery, Sherman Galleries – which had become a bastion of contemporary art practice in Australia and held an important anchor with Asia – into the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (SCAF).
