Minister to review cultural property

The Minister for the Arts has announced his own review just days after the National Gallery admitted to concerns on stolen art.

The National Gallery of Australia last week announced it would review the provenance of its Asian art collection, following the embarrassment of the stolen Shiva which was returned to India in September.

The Gallery will appoint a reviewer in January, who will also look at the way the NGA complies with relevant legislation, both Australian and overseas.
