Stars align for art in 2017

With the Venice Biennale, Documenta and Skulptur Project Munster aligned and new biennales from Antarctica to Kathmandu, 2017 is the perfect year to travel.

The American blog artnet has coined the term “Art-Mageddon” to describe 2017, warning art lovers to brace themselves against the number of major art events.

Unusually, three of the art world biggest events coincide this year. The Venice Biennale, the five-yearly Documenta and the once-a-decade Skulptur Projekte Münster will all be held in 2017. Sixteen major contemporary art shows are scheduled for 2017. There are extreme locations from a Californian desert to Antarctica and new biennale-style events in Russia, Pakistan, Nepal and Honolulu. So check your passport and start planning your travel now.
