Not-for-profit contemporary art space Gertrude Contemporary has been a fixture in the Melbourne art world since 1985, when it opened in Fitzroy at 200 Gertrude Street.

In the intervening years, over 300 artists have participated in Gertrude’s two-year studio program and countless others have shown in exhibitions, building a reputation for the organisation as a risk-taker and a platform for new ideas.
