It’s been a while in the making, but the Benalla Art Gallery will soon open its nude portrait prize for entries, calling for painting and mixed media entries with enough naked ambition to win what is now one of the largest non-acquisitive art prizes in the country.

Artist Ivan Durrant, an Australian painter, performance artist and writer, is the driving force behind this latest art prize and hopes it will become synonymous with its town of origin and the gallery, which he believes is one of the best regional galleries in Australia.
