Those who delve into the occult say the witching hour arrives in the small hours of the night. This Thursday 18 May, however, The witching hour comes early.
From 6pm at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, magic will be afoot as dazzling works by 38 of Australia’s most renowned artists are exhibited for the 2017 CCP Fundraiser exhibition.
The exhibition, which then runs from Friday 19 May to Sunday 28 May, will feature artworks generously donated by some of Australia’s most exciting contemporary artists, including Anne Zahalka, Christian Thompson and Patrick Pound.
“CCP is responsive to our artists and the ever-changing nature and uses of the magical medium of photography,” CCP director Naomi Cass says.
For the first time, the fundraiser will also auction four exclusive experiences. One of these is a tour of Drome Studios with celebrated artist Patricia Piccinini. An astonishing hub of manual and digital crafts, Drome Studios is an artisan workshop that is home to the myriad skills that go into making Piccinini’s astounding work.
Along with the Drome Studios tour from Piccinini, the fundraiser will also auction a one- on-one architectural photography excursion with the legendary John Gollings. Other packages include a tour and insight into the collecting mind of Patrick Pound through a visit with the artist to his NGV show The Great Exhibition. There is also a tasty folio appraisal up for grabs for one budding photographer, to be held over a café brunch with Naomi Cass and CCP curator Pippa Milne.
