Waverley Council is thrilled to launch a new exhibition Blank Spaces for the Imagination in the Bondi Pavilion Gallery. The exhibition features five current and former Waverley Studio Artists whose work considers the idea of mapping space and reinventing our way of seeing the world.
The exhibition presents the work of five highly acclaimed contemporary artists; Maz Dixon, Philjames, Kate Mitchell, Adam Norton and Sean Rafferty, who are all alumni of the Waverley Artist Studios. The Waverley Artist Studios is a program which supports emerging and professional artists through fully subsidised studio space to develop new work.
Blank Spaces for the Imagination is a cool and unusual exhibition with works featured including vintage sign writing stylistic explorations of deep space, a new mapping of the Australian landscape through fruit carton designs, nostalgic paintings of kitsch and memorable Australiana holiday destinations, science fiction interventions in classical painting and a video work of an artist
performing under hypnosis.
