Momentum is an exhibition of barriers and driving forces. The new works in the show centre around duration and mobility, time and space, in relation to semiotic indicators that regulate behavior by informing any given actor of their position. Oscillating objects mounted on each wall reflect the viewer from the position of painting, and directional pathways guide the affair.
Modes of representation that are literal, physical, and visual, are brought to bear to highlight 'unknown known' ideological pathologies that lie just below the conscious threshold of many interactions and encounters in everyday life, not least including the amusing gallery exhibition experience.
Following on from Art That Does, Uniform, and Tribute, this is the 4th in a series of collaborative exhibitions by Joe and Chanelle exploring the social treatment of sites, signs, and objects.
