Hazelhurst Arts Centre has a full winter school holiday program packed with free classes for children aged 6 through to 13 years if you are looking for creative things to do during the July school holidays.
Programs include clay work, drawing and painting, ink and collage work plus more. There’s also a free kids film program and free art making in the Studio with free drop in activities each weekday of the winter school holidays from 10am – 12pm, 9 July to 20 July.
Children can be inspired by the current exhibition Marion Hall Best: Interiors. Marion Hall Best was one of the first independent and most influential interior designers in Australia.
Creative Kids Studio
Pop into the studio for free drop in activities each weekday of the winter school holidays from 10am to 12pm.
Be inspired by the exhibition Marion Hall Best: Interiors to create designs and artworks.
Monday 9th and Friday 20th July
Create an abstract painting based on one of Marion’s interiors. Be inspired by on her use of colour, line and shape.
Tuesday 10th and Monday 16th July
Using simple printmaking techniques create an artwork based on textiles in the exhibition.
Wednesday 11th and Thursday 19th July
Design a mini chair. One of the most redesigned objects in history; make a chair that is both funky and functional.
Thursday 12th and Tuesday 17th July
Create a room inspired by Marion’s interior designs. Build a room from cardboard then decorate it with bright colours and furnishings from the exhibition.
Friday 13th and Wednesday 18th
Design your own colourful pattern. Use simple shapes repeated to form patterns and then paint the design in colours inspired by the exhibition.
