Collected Perspectives: exhibition celebrates a long history between Camberwell Art Show and the City of Boroondara
To celebrate the 53rd annual Camberwell Art Show and its historical and artistic relationship with the City of Boroondara, The Town Hall Gallery has created an exhibition of six award-winning works of past Camberwell Art Shows.
Located in the foyer of Hawthorn Arts Centre, the exhibition features paintings by artists David Armfield, Hal Barton, Bruce Fletcher, Graham Hinton Moore, Patricia Moran and Rupert Thompson. This diverse exhibition features a variety of genres including still life, cityscapes and coastal scenes, created between the years 1967 - 1990.
All works on display are items from the Town Hall Gallery Collection, which aims to nurture a sense of community and shared history, as well as enhance public spaces and community wellbeing. Combining artworks and historical and civic memorabilia from Kew, Hawthorn and Camberwell, the Collection has its own unique focus on the cultural heritage of Boroondara.
The City of Boroondara has supported the Camberwell Art Show since its inception in 1969. Between 1969 and 1990, over 50 prize-winning works were donated to the City of Camberwell (now City of Boroondara).
The Camberwell Art Show is one of Australia’s leading art events for established and emerging artists, and the City of Boroondara is thrilled to support this important annual event.
The 2018 Camberwell Rotary Art Show will take place from 7 - 15 July, at Swinburne University Advanced Technologies Centre.
