Call for entries for Young Artist Award

The Royal Queensland Art Society is pleased to announce the call for entries is open to the Young Artist Award at our Petrie Terrace Gallery.

The Young Artist Award (YAA) is open to Queensland Students and Artists and is judged in 2 sections for artists under 17 years and artists aged 18 to 30. The YAA is a very important initiative to encourage and support young artists nd to provide them with the opportunity to showcase their artwork.


The YAA will be held as part of our Biennial celebration with the Queensland Figurative from the 8th September to the 4th October, with the opening night on Saturday 12th September, these exhibitions will showcase excellence in fine art.


Young Artists can submit Paintings or Drawings in 2D of a subject of their choice created and "observed from life" i.e. by observing the subject in real life, with photography to be used as a supportive reference only.

Artists may submit up to 4 artworks for pre-selection, electronically via our website or email.


Entry to YAA is $35 per artist with a prize pool of $2,000.
