City of Darwin is seeking a public art consultancy/public artist and/or design team to co-design and deliver the next THRIVE Public Art Project scoped for Bicentennial Park on the Esplanade of Darwin CBD.
Expressions of interest are invited from Australian-based public art makers to create a stand-alone public sculpture in partnership with a cultural consultant nominated by Larrakia Nation.The successful applicant will co-conceptualise and design the public sculpture in collaboration with the cultural consultant, then co-ordinate fabrication and oversee installation in addition to mentoring a Larrakia emerging artist in the process of public art creation. The Project has been approved by the Elected Members of City of Darwin, budgeted to the value of approximately $252,000 (excluding GST) and will commence at the start of the 2021 calendar year.
This Project is suitable for candidates experienced in cross-cultural consultation (if not Larrakia themselves) and the management of significant arts project budgets in excess of $150,000. Please note the successful applicant will be expected to present on-site at various stages of the project, pending Health Department directives regarding interstate travel.
