Entries are Open for the 2019 ANL Maritime Art Prize!
For the seventeenth consecutive year, the ANL Maritime Art Prize calls artists to respond to the theme of
‘The Relationship of Humanity to the Sea’
Maritime art is a genre significant to all Australians, as our home is girt by sea, and shipping is THE vital connector for our economy.
The Maritime Art prize attracts around 350 entries, with a finalist selection of 80 artworks, competing for 4 major awards including the acquisitive ANL Maritime Art Prize, Best in Traditional, Emerging Artist, and the People’s Choice. The total prize pool is over $27,000. Artworks in the medium of painting, mixed media, collage or drawing are accepted into the exhibition. Terms and Conditions are on our website.
This year’s judges are Professor of Contemporary Art from the University of Melbourne, Dr Charles Green, artist, and author of several books on Contemporary Australian Art; Mr Graeme Williams OAM, Board Member & Chairman of the Lorne Sculpture Biennale Artistic Committee; and Ms. Catherine De Boer, Artist, Designer & Educator.
The event is the major fundraiser of the year for the Mission to Seafarers Victoria. The exhibition is held our enchanting and iconic building in Docklands from 4th - 20th October. The Mission to Seafarers is a not-for-profit welfare organisation caring for seafarers in the Ports of Melbourne since 1857.
