The Long Paddock

Sculpture Project - $25000 open call for artists

The Long Paddock is seeking to add to the ARTback Sculpture Collection of 11 public artworks that are placed along the 610km of the Cobb Highway in South Western NSW. The Long Paddock Committee has secured funding to  to create  a replacement sculpture to be located on the southern side of the Peppin Heritage Centre in George Street, Deniliquin. Deniliquin is famous for its annual Ute Muster and at present, on the site is TRANSmute a mosaic ute sculpture that pays tribute to the connection between the ute and Deniliquin.

The new sculpture could be a reinterpretation of the Ute and its relationship to Deniliquin or it can reflect the broader Long Paddock themes of transport (bullock teams, Cobb and Co, Horses,) Pastoral (sheep, wool, cattle, cropping) Pioneers (Settlers, Squatters, Pub owners, farmers, women), Drovers and Indigenous Culture.

The LPC require artists to respond to the Artist Brief which can be found on The Long Paddock website. Two artists will then be selected and paid to submit detailed sketches, CAD files or a maquette to further develop their concept. After public display the Long Paddock Committee will select ONE artist to be commissioned to produce the public artwork.
