Vivid Sydney is now inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from individuals and organisations across the global creative community to participate in the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas in 2019.
This Expression of Interest outlines opportunities for creative and technology industry practitioners, individuals, organisations, business and educational institutions to submit events for inclusion in the Vivid Ideas 2019 program.
Events must be related to the creative or technology sectors (either serving a creative or technology sector audience or connecting the sector with the broader economy) and must take place in Sydney during the festival period. Vivid Sydney typically takes place between late May and mid-June.
We are particularly interested in supporting events which ignite a national conversation, bring professional practitioners to Sydney for training and development, and which actively build networks throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Seminars, conferences and discussions in the music and creative technology sectors are welcome to apply, however we do not select music performances or light installations as part of the Vivid Ideas program.
There are three entry categories covered under the Vivid Ideas Expression of Interest:
- Creative Conferences and Public Events - Stand-alone, large-scale public events and major conferences presented by creative or tech industry organisations and businesses, either as independent events or as co-productions with Vivid Sydney. At the discretion of Vivid Sydney, these events may be developed as a co-investment on a shared-return model.
Successful events will be offered marketing support through inclusion in the Vivid Sydney program.
- Vivid Ideas Exchange Events - Events for up to 200 people held the Vivid Ideas Exchange at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA). This program includes short-form seminars and panel discussions (1-2hrs), networking events, screenings or immersive experiences. Intended audiences can be industry specific or general public interest groups.
This venue is subsidised by Destination NSW. Close collaboration with the Vivid Sydney curatorial team on content and positioning ensures a high standard of professionalism and program consistency, whilst serving as an incubation process to help grow sustainable events for future years.
Events hosted in the Vivid Ideas Exchange at the MCA will be charged a fee of $1,500 + GST per allocated 2-hour time-slot. This includes venue hire, audiovisual and staging equipment, furniture and technical operators.
- External Third Party Events - Hosted in other venues around the CBD, third-party events are provided with marketing support by inclusion in the Vivid Ideas program. They are responsible for their own marketing, publicity, content, venue and production management costs.
Third-party events can include talks, panel discussions, debates and small-scale conferences where these are not able to be hosted at the Vivid Ideas Exchange. We also invite applications from site specific or immersive experiences (including immersive dinners or innovative events) or gallery showings where the work is technology focused. Intended audiences can be industry specific or include general public interest groups.
Application forms must be completed and submitted by the Expression of Interest closing date Sunday 14 October 2018.
