Helpmann Academy Major Public Art Commission for the Goolwa Wharf Precinct

Generously funded by K&S Langley Fund

Presented by Helpmann Academy and Alexandrina Council, the Helpmann Academy Major Public Art Commission for the Goolwa Wharf Precinct will support an emerging artist or small collective of artists to create a major public art commission for the Goolwa Wharf Precinct.

This significant opportunity is valued at up to $150,000 and is made possible with the generous support from K&S Langley Fund.

The emerging artist(s) will work with renowned artists from George Street Studios, developing their abilities and confidence in producing large-scale public artwork. The process will include mentorship and guidance in all aspects of public art development including the concept design, fabrication, budgets, risk, project management, construction, and maintenance.

Helpmann Academy and Alexandrina Council are looking for artists/artist teams to exercise artistic expression, innovation, and freedom on the project, while referencing the theme of “family/ family connectedness”.  The artwork should be engaging for families and children from all cultures and abilities. It is anticipated the space will be used by locals and tourists alike.

This is an exciting opportunity for South Australia’s emerging creatives to create a work that will become a part of Goolwa’s cultural identity – while extending both their practical knowledge and skills. It is an unparalleled chance to build a profile and make solid connections in the public art realm.
