The Osborne Community Hall is situated on Kaurna land, along the busy Victoria Road and is an entry building to the Osborne Park precinct alongside the LeFevre Community Sport Stadium and Osborne House (a heritage listed building). The park precinct also has multi use courts (home to the Semaphore Centrals Netball Club), the LeFevre Cycle Speedway (BMX and track bikes), Osborne Skate Park, outdoor fitness equipment, public toilets, a picnic and BBQ area in the parkland, which is wheelchair accessible. The site has served as a hub for community groups to meet, recreate, play sport and volunteer for the local community for many years.
There is now an opportunity to develop and implement an iconic mural project with a significant 159m2 artwork that aims to capture and conceptualise what the peninsula, its local culture, people and the precinct means to the communities in the region.
An essential element of the mural project is to engage with surrounding communities and stakeholders to seek out and discover ideas, themes and suggestions to develop the imagery for the mural.
