Firstdraft encourages applications from emerging and early-career artists; we also welcome proposals from mid-career and established practitioners testing new and experimental approaches, as well as ideas that bring emerging artists in dialogue with more established peers. We are committed to diversity and strongly support applications from First Peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disability, as well as people with access needs.Proposals are invited across all programs: Exhibition Program, Curators Program, Writers Program and Live Program. Firstdraft profiles emerging, contemporary art practice and experimentation through a diverse and dynamic program of solo, group and curated exhibitions.

First Peoples Curators Program

The First Peoples Curators Program supports an emerging Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander practitioner to present an exhibition at Firstdraft.

Curators Program

Firstdraft invites early-career curators to propose an exhibition to be staged across two galleries.

Writers Program

The Writers Program fosters experimental and expanded approaches to arts writing.

Live Program

Firstdraft’s Live Program engages our community and enlivens our spaces through innovative and transformative live experiences.
