Design Eye Creative 'paper on skin' Wearable Paper Art competition - Call for Entries

Calling artists, designers and papermakers ready to embrace the challenge of creating a wearable garment made from at least 80% paper. Design Eye Creative ‘paper on skin’ connects Burnie’s papermaking heritage to a unique competition with an AUD$10 000 Prize Pool. Six Awards in total. Entries close 28 Feb. Gala Event and Award Evening 19 June. Burnie is located on the beautiful North West Coast of Tasmania.

$5000 Design Eye Creative Major Award

$2000 Runner-Up Award

NEW $1000 Tasmanian Hearing and Implant Centre – Dr Kellie Walker’s Encouragement Award – for recognition of talent and to encourage pursuit of the artform

NEW Awagami Paper Award in Recognition of the use of Handmade Paper – a selection of Awagami Editioning papers to the value of over AUD$500 - to recognise the use of handmade, artisanal and/or non-commercial paper

NEW $1000 Award in honour of Pam and Neil Thorne – a special award which reflects the core concept of paper on skin, an idea conceived and developed by Burnie artist Pam Thorne with support from her (equally paper-passionate) husband Neil. This award will be judged by the Burnie Regional Art Gallery Director to highlight the strong partnership between paper on skin and the Gallery. It is sponsored by Janet De Boer OAM.
