Bayside City Council is calling for EOI from artists

$85,000 Public Art Commission Peterson Street Reserve, Highett. Bayside City Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from artists to submit preliminary ideas for a public artwork/s that will be located at Peterson Street Reserve.

The Reserve is positioned centrally within the Bayside hinterland. It is a local park of around 4.4ha in area which comprises 2 sporting ovals, a playground, the Peterson Youth Centre and a skateboard park and a number of freestanding pavilions.

Art located in public spaces has the ability to engage people in their everyday lives and provides an opportunity for dialogue and social interaction in many ways. A range of options are applicable to the Peterson Street Reserve EOI in both permanent and temporary installations. A community cultural development approach to the EOI is encouraged.

Up to three artists will be short-listed and invited to participate in a Request for Tender (RFT) process to further develop their ideas. $1,500 has been allocated to develop concept designs for each of the three short listed artist/s ($4,500 total). The preferred concept design will be selected by a panel and the successful artist/s engaged to fabricate the work/s for installation.

EOI documents can be obtained by visiting Council’s website

All EOIs must be received by 2.00pm Wednesday 22 June 2021
