Geelong After Dark Expressions of Interest

Because the Night: Geelong After Dark 2019 Expressions of Interest

Geelong After Dark is on the hunt. Expressions of Interest are sought from artists; artist collectives and collaborations to explore the 2019 theme, Heighten Your Senses.

To be held from 6pm Friday 3 May, Geelong After Dark is an annual artistic exploration of the heart of Central Geelong.

We all use our senses – be it through sight, hearing, taste, touch or smell – to navigate, explore and interact in our everyday lives.  And then there is the sixth sense – our intuition or “ESP”, acquired through past experiences, surrounding influences and natural instinct.

You are invited to explore one or more of the senses through your art that will inspire and engage audiences.

We encourage you to use the City as a blank canvas to explore new ways of experiencing existing spaces, buildings and laneways, reminding us that culture and creativity is a vital human expression.

It is a celebration of artists and the role they play in contributing to the  city’s Clever and Creative vision , and about surrendering to, and embracing, the unknown.

A curated event, Geelong After Dark invites you to wander the laneways, hidden spaces and cultural buildings to experience interactive art; street performances; installations; music; exhibitions; projections.

In 2019, Heighten Your Senses and abandon what you know.

Quotes attributed to City of Greater Geelong Mayor Bruce Harwood

Geelong After Dark is one of our must-experience events. Each year the community is captivated by the clever and creative artistic displays and activities. As a UNESCO City of Design, this event will be one to gain plenty of exposure, so I encourage all artists to make sure they are part of Geelong After Dark 2019.”
