City of Greater Dandenong

Home exhibition - Call for Artist Proposals

Artists with a refugee or asylum seeker background are invited to apply to participate in HOME.

The exhibition will be staged in October 2019 by the City of Greater Dandenong’s Walker Street Gallery & Arts Centre.

HOME presents works that celebrate the important contribution that refugee and asylum seekers make to the cultural and social fabric of Australia.

Five artists will be shortlisted from the applications received. Shortlisted artists will be offered financial support of $1000 for the creation and delivery of new artworks for the exhibition.

Each selected artist will be provided with a negotiated opportunity for mentoring with an experienced artist or curator for the purpose of professional development.

Artwork may be produced in any media, including but not limited to painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, video, photography and drawing. Artists are invited to create work based on the refugee or asylum seeker experience or any other thematic interest.

Applications close: Midnight Sunday 30 June 2019
