About the Course
In this 8-week, part-time course you will develop the storytelling and writing skills, communication strategies and technical Avid editing skills to become an industry-ready Post Producer.
Delivered by Melissa Maclean, a highly experienced TV producer with over fifteen years’ experience in the industry, this course will include hands-on experience with Avid Media Composer editing software, theory presentations, real-life television case studies, in-class workshops, writing exercises and guest lectures from professional industry guests.
Learn the fundamentals of creative storytelling in the context of unscripted TV (factual/unscripted/reality/entertainment) including making structural decisions, writing voice over and selecting footage.
Learn how to effectively balance and manage the broad technical, organisational and creative requirements of being a Post Producer.
Learn, develop and practice the essential Avid editing skills a Post Producer needs to deliver a story sequence to an editor.
You do not need to have Avid Editing experience to do this course, as we will be teaching “the basics”. The course (and the actual role of Post Producer) is very computer-centric however, so an aptitude for technology is important.
This course is only open to students aged 18+.
