Expressions of Interest
The Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne have fostered the growth of botanical illustration over many years. They have held regular classes and workshops in botanical illustration since the 1980’s and they have an active Botanical Illustrators Group, the Whirlybirds.
The Botanical Illustrators and the Friends present regular Botanic Art Exhibitions held in the Domain House Gallery. Since 1992 biennial art exhibitions have been held; The Art of Botanical Illustration (TABI) and more recently a natural history exhibition, ‘reframing Nature’, held in the alternate years.

For this position you will need good communication, project management and computer skills, including a good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Spreadsheets. An arts background or interest in botanical art and natural history would be helpful to be able to curate this exhibition.
Your role will include leading a group of experienced volunteers to plan and promote the Reframing Nature exhibition, assisting artists who wish to submit their works in the exhibition and in the setup and take down of the exhibition.
This role could be shared between two people if this arrangement is more practical for you.
Key responsibilities include: Devising project timelines, budgets, exhibition design; plan and implement the installation schedule and associated logistics. writing accompanying texts, promotional material and catalogue.
