Arts org wins as human rights leader

Arts and social change company Big hART has been awarded the Tasmanian Human Rights Award for Organisation of the Year.

The 24 hour Colourathon by Big hART’s Project O in Wynyard, Tasmania

The announcement was made at the Human Rights Week Launch at Parliament House in Hobart today, and will be followed by an official award ceremony at Government House on Tuesday.

Set up 24 years ago by Scott Rankin in Burnie, Tasmania, Big hART has worked with over 45 marginalised and disadvantaged communities across Australia – from young Indigenous people in the juvenile justice system in NT and WA, to the members of housing commission communities in Sydney, to young people in a domestic violence hotspot in Tasmania.
