If the Art Gallery of New South Wales hadn’t wanted a major shake-up they would not have appointed Dr Michael Brand as director.

After spearheading the $150 million redevelopment of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; overseeing the reopening of a second campus during his turbulent period at the J. Paul Getty Museum  and working on the establishment of the new Agha Khan Museum in Toronto, it was inevitable Brand’s vision for AGNSW would be grand.
