Artist and historian Brenda Humble has passed away at 77 (1933 – 2011).
Brenda, who died last month, had an extensive following through Eva Bruer Art Dealer in Sydney, and was a talented artist and committed activist who worked and studied extensively in New South Wales.
Brenda won the 1982 Portia Geach Prize for her portrait of Virginia Hall, a significant portrait prize for women, as well as holding over 16 solo exhibitions in Sydney. She was a finalist in the 1974 Wynne Prize, the 1982 Waverley Art Prize and the 1981 Mornington Peninsula Drawing prize amongst others.
