Winner of photography award announced
Owen Leong was announced the winner of the 2015 Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award over the weekend. Recognised as one of the most important annual surveys of contemporary Australian photography, Leong’s self-portrait takes the ancient spiritual gesture made with hands – the mudra in Hinduism and Buddhism – and cloaked in black rephrases the gesture as a contemporary comment.
