A bark painting that points to New York’s iconic Statue of Liberty isn’t what most people associate with the medium – or with Aboriginal art making generally. But it caught the eye of this year’s NATSIAA judges, who awarded Djambawa Marawili AM the $50,000 Telstra Art Award today.
