Gender parity questioned as 7 major exhibitions announced

Is it just uncanny timing, or does the recent two weeks of announcements of major exhibitions at top drawer institutions demonstrate that gender balance is still skewed?

Five major exhibition – what one might label blockbusters – were announced recently, drawn both from national and international holdings. The problem faced, apart from a group show of Pre-Raphaelite paintings and another of royal portraits (both largely made by male artists), is that all these exhibitions are surveys of male artists.
