Was too much Marina the kiss of death for the MCA?

In a statement today the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) told ArtsHub: ‘Unfortunately, the MCA has had to cancel the Marina Abramovíc exhibition it was planning to host in 2016, due to a number of external factors.

‘As Marina’s other upcoming artistic projects in Australia grew in scope (residency in Sydney’s Walsh Bay with the Kaldor Public Art Projects (KPAP); and Marina Abramovíc: Private Archeology exhibition at MONA), the timing of the exhibition proved very difficult, and impacted our ability to secure sufficient financial support.’
