Naata Nungurrayi, The Rockhole and Soakage Water Site of Marrapinti, (detail) 2001, estimate: $60,000 – 80,000, Courtesy Deutscher and Hackett
Arguably, one of Australia’s most important and well-known collections of Australian Aboriginal Art will go under the hammer this weekend with auction house Deutscher and Hackett. Staged at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) in Sydney, the collection has been amassed by Dr. Colin and Elizabeth Laverty over the past forty years – pioneers of the Aboriginal art movement.
