Street art connects Keith Haring and Basquiat with Melbourne

Both Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat were known for their practice of art on the streets and subways of New York.

As curator Dr. Dieter Buchhart explained: ‘Keith Haring devoted himself to messages of social justice …Haring insisted that art was for everybody and brought his unique art vocabulary into public spaces to distribute and democratise his art and ideas’.
