This exhibition represents the collaborative working life of two artists drawing on a shared South Coast environment over a partnership of five decades in life and work.
The two bodies of work are connected in thematic ideas but diverse in genre. It includes works on paper, paintings, assemblage and free-standing sculptures.
The majority of works are recent although earlier works are included to emphasise the revisiting of sources, which constantly renew themselves.
Ward primarily repurposes found materials into three-dimensional forms, which in turn inspire the creation of two-dimensional works as oils and linocuts. FitzGerald’s prints and drawings originate in reflections on the natural environment, frequently becoming abstracted in the studio process.
