Throughout history, self-portraiture has provided a means for artists to examine their place in society. In the time of the camera phone, self-representation by artists provokes needed discussion on the problematic binaries associated with gender and identity.

Personal Touch expresses the sensitivity with which artists are addressing the evolving nature of selfhood, at a time when the political status quo fails to do so.

Presented by Midsumma Festival and Incinerator Gallery.
