The idea of making place or place-making is intrinsic to the work of Ros Auld. Based in her studio at Borenore for forty years, the space in which she works is a direct response to the landscape around her. ‘Adventures in Ceramics’ presents a practice that playfully blurs boundaries between medium and process, form and function. From her early painterly plates and platters, to the upward building of the vessel, and pushing to a point of sculptural abstraction in ceramics, bronze and steel, Ros Auld’s expanding process is grounded to the land.
